Refurbishment FAQs
We have taken your questions about the upcoming refurbishments and S1 2026 re-signs on onboard and answered as many as we can here. If your question is not here, don’t be shy, come and ask us. We want you to have as much information as possible to help you decide what will be best for you over this period.

I will be leaving Iglu and moving out by 17 November 2025
When is my contract ending?
Given you are planning to leave and not return, your contract will end on 17 November 2025. If you need to end earlier, please discuss this with the front desk
I’m checking out on 17 November 2025; can I stay for a couple of extra days?
Unfortunately, you won’t be able to stay past your scheduled departure date as we will be starting to move those who will be staying through the refurbishments.
Do I need to take all of my belongings from the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom?
Yes, you will need to empty your room and remove everything in the apartment that belongs to you.
Will I still need to clean my room for a departure inspection?
Our standard departure process will apply. Our team will book a departure inspection, and you can choose whether to be present or not. If you have a preferred date between 1 and 17 November 2025, please let us know.
When will I pay rent until?
You will need to pay rent until the day you move out.
Will I be charged reletting costs?
You will not be charged reletting costs if you move out between 1 November and 17 November 2025. If you choose to leave prior to 1 November 2025, you will still be responsible for paying rent. If you opt to stay but then decide to leave, you will be responsible for reletting costs.
Will I get my bond back?
Providing there is no damage or excessive mess or rubbish in your bedroom, you will receive your full bond.
I will be away during the refurbishments and returning after 13 February 2026
When is my contract ending?
Given you plan to be away during renovations and return in February 2026, if your contract is scheduled to finish:
- between the start of renovations and 30 February 2026, it will now end on 17 November 2025. Your new contract will start on 14 February 2026
- in July 2026, your contract will continue until then. As noted above, your rent will be paused between 17 November 2025 and 13 February 2026.
Do I have to pay rent during this period?
No, your rent will be paused between 17 November 2025 and 13 February 2026.
Do I have to pack all of my belongings?
Yes, you will need to pack up your belongings before you head off. We will be providing boxes, tape and labels. Boxes will be left in your room, in some cases moved. If you reside on level 3 your boxes will be stored in a secure location. We will have removalists to collect and return your boxes.
Will someone else stay in my room while I am away?
Yes, this is likely. Depending on the number of people who choose to stay during the refurbishments it is possible that someone else will temporarily relocate to your room, particularly if you live on levels 3, 4, or 5, however it is not limited to these floors.
If you need to move my belongings, where will they be stored?
All items will be stored in a secure storeroom located under level 5.
My contract ends in February 2026; will I return under that contract or a new one?
As is standard with our re-sign process, you will start a new contract when you return in February 2026. As noted above, your rent will be paused between 17 November 2025 and 13 February 2026.

Your contract will continue until July 2026. As noted above, your rent will be paused between 17 November 2025 and 13 February 2026.
I am planning to stay at Iglu during refurbishments
I am keen to stay. What disruptions can I expect?
You will most likely need to temporarily relocate to an alternative room. During the day, there will be noise, reduced access and temporary service interruptions.
Will my contract be amended if I stay?
Given you will be required to relocate to an alternative room during the refurbishment period, your contract will be amended to reflect this.
If I am living in a 1, 2 or 3-bedroom apartment and have to move to a 5 or 6-bedroom apartment, will my rent change?
Yes, you will be paying the current room rate for the room you move to.
If I say I want to stay and then I decide to move out. Do reletting costs apply?
Yes, you will be responsible for re-letting costs.
I need to stay but for the whole period, is that possible?
Yes, this is possible, however we will need to prioritise residents staying for the whole period.
I’m not renewing for 2026; can I still stay at Iglu until February 2026 when my current contract ends?
Yes, this is possible, however we will need to prioritise residents re-signing for 2026.
