1. What time do I need to check out?
To help us prepare the room for the next student, please check out by 10am on your contract end date. Make sure to have all your belongings out of the room and return your keys by this time. We can store your bags if you have a later flight, so come speak to us at the front desk.
2. Can I leave before my contract end date?
Yes, if you need to leave before the contract end date, please let us know at the front desk. We’ll arrange to disable your swipe card and check you out of the property.
Please note that you are responsible for payment of your rent until the end of your contract even if you are departing earlier.
3. How do I return my keys?
If you’re leaving during office hours, you can return your keys directly to the front desk. If you are leaving outside of office hours, please leave your access card, room key, and completed bond refund form on the desk in your room and they will be collected during our departure inspection.
4. What happens during the departure inspection?
We conduct a departure inspection before you leave to assess the cleanliness and condition of your room. You will be notified by email if any charges are applicable from the result of your inspection. You can request to be present during the inspection by arranging this with the front desk.
5. How clean does my room need to be?
Your room should be cleaned to the standard it was in when you moved in. Follow our cleaning checklist to make sure you don’t miss any areas. Any additional cleaning required could result in extra fees.
6. What do I do with items I don’t want to take with me?
You can donate gently used items to local charities or fellow residents—just bring them to the front desk. Larger items or rubbish should be disposed of in the waste room or skip bins at ground floor. Please don’t leave unwanted items in common areas, as disposal fees may apply.
7. How do I get my bond refund?
To receive your bond refund, you need to collect a bond refund form from the front desk. Once completed, return it to the front desk and wait for the email from the RTA where you’ll be required to submit this form. Bond refunds will be issued to Australian bank accounts only.
8. When will I receive my bond refund?
Bond refunds are typically processed 2-4 weeks after your lease end date, once the final inspection is complete and any outstanding fees are settled.
9. Can I update my forwarding address for mail?
Yes, make sure to collect any remaining mail or parcels from the front desk before you leave, and update your forwarding address to ensure your mail reaches you after you move out.
10. What if I need to access the property after checking out?
Once you’ve checked out and returned your keys or had your swipe card disabled, you will no longer have access to the property. If you need special arrangements, please speak with the front desk before your departure.
11. Do I need to leave behind any items provided by Iglu?
Yes, please leave behind any appliances or items that were provided to you at the beginning of your stay, such as vacuum cleaner, mop, and bucket as these belong to the property. The mattress protector is yours to keep. If you want to throw it out, please discard it in the bin room on the ground floor, behind the East Tower fire stairs.
